The photographs I make contain common rural landscapes that go unnoticed. I use black and white photography to turn these ordinary Minnesotan scenes into images that demand attention. I believe less is more - my photography reflects this concept.
Process
I use a wooden camera and 4x5 inch film. I expose the film with a simplified version of Ansel Adam's Zone System. I develop the film in trays with my own hands. The film is then scanned. Once scanned, I prepare the image for printing on my computer. Printing is performed on an inkjet printer with archival inks. I print on glossy fiber paper for both aesthetics and longevity.
